Ayurvedic Approach to Asanas

Yoga teachers must possess a fundamental understanding of Ayurveda, while Ayurveda practitioners must grasp the utilization of yoga postures to aid in the healing process and balance doshas. This course will thoroughly examine the twelve fundamental yoga postures from the Sivananda tradition, through the lens of Ayurvedic medicine’s healing system. Additionally, it will instruct the proper execution of yoga asanas, taking into account the unique mind-body types of each individual based on Ayurvedic principles.
Topics covered:
- Effects of each asana on the body’s doshas or biological humors .
- Common challenges that may arise when yoga teachers and practitioners are not aware of their own or student’s mind-body type
- How performing all 12 basic asanas can help to harmonize the doshas.
This course is suitable for yoga teachers of all traditions, ayurvedic practitioners, and yoga practitioners with established practice.
For students attending online, a Zoom link will be sent a day before the course.
Teacher: Mayavan is an experienced Yoga teacher who has been practicing Yoga since childhood. He holds Masters in Yoga Therapy from Annamali University, India. Pranayama practice

Start your mornings with an invigorating practice!
The challenge will include Sun Salutations to warm up the body, 40 minutes of pranayama (Kapalabhati and Anuloma Viloma), and guided relaxation. These practices help to strengthen the respiratory system, increase stamina and keep good physical health. They also help keep the mind calm and peaceful.
