Foundations of Vedic Chanting
Awaken your Voice, Quiet your Mind
With Ivy Ingram
September 3 (Monday) - September 7 (Thursday)
In this course, you will be introduced to the timeless practice of Vedic chanting, in which the wisdom of ancient Sanskrit mantra guides us toward alignment with divine natural intelligence. Deeply rooted in tradition, Vedic chanting practice adheres to precise guidelines of melody, rhythm, and pronunciation, preserving its potency for thousands of years and imbuing it with an unmistakable resonance.
As a yogic technique, Vedic chanting helps us develop one-pointed attention, refines our hearing, and soothes the mind while subtly shifting our consciousness. You’ll experience the benefits of rhythmic breathing (prānāyāma), sensory withdrawal and focus (pratyahāra), and concentration (dhāraṇā). For those who persist in the practice, Vedic Chanting offers a direct path into the very heart of meditation.
In this course, you will learn a series of chants chosen to exemplify the tradition and the foundational rules of Vedic chanting, including a Gaṇesha invocation Vakratuṇda, a Guru mantra, and the Gāyatrī mantra. You will also learn a selection of mantra-s to support good health, including Namāmi Dhanvantarim and the Āyur mantra.

You will experience the profound impact of these healing sounds as they move through us, whether by listening or chanting along. Through the traditional teaching method of adhyayanam (“listen and repeat”), you’ll learn proper pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation in a relaxed, supportive environment.
These rare teachings come through an unbroken lineage that has been passed down through generations. By joining us, you’ll discover a meditative practice that’s not only accessible, but also incredibly joyful, offering a host of benefits including:
- Regulated blood pressure, increased breath capacity, and a stronger voice through coordinated breathing
- Enhanced focus, memory and attention span
- A deeper receptivity to the higher meanings of the mantra-s
- Support for the health and vitality of the throat, vocal cords, and 5th chakra energy center of communication
- Greater confidence and willingness to project your voice into the world
- A restored mind, bathed in the positive, sattvic energy created by the practice
Come immerse yourself in the healing vibrations of Vedic Chanting and unlock the power of these ancient sounds to transform your life.
