Friday, November 7th Satsang 8pm (free) ; Saturday, November 8th 1.30pm-4pm ; 45$
Repetition of mantras, sacred sounds, can be used both as a method of meditation and as a daily practice. Chanting mantras aloud and with the community generates energy and a sense of connection, while repeating them silently helps calm the mind, improve concentration, and reduce stress throughout the day. Current research shows that sound repetition can regulate the nervous system and improve emotional balance. Scholars highlight how Sanskrit syllables influence the brain by activating specific sound patterns that support focus, memory, and executive functioning. During this weekend, we will explore different mantras and chants and their associated qualities, discover their benefits and healing properties, and learn how to choose a personal mantra for meditation and daily activities to attain greater focus and experience deeper peace. Mantras not only quiet the mind but also open the heart, offering comfort in difficult times. The workshop is suitable for all levels, with no prior experience required. Students will have the opportunity after the workshop to receive personal guidance from the teacher.
Teacher: Swami Vairagyananda has been serving as staff for many years and is currently based at the Sivananda Yoga Camp, where she leads guest programs, teaches in the Teacher Training Courses, and supports students and guests in deepening their connection to themselves and the teachings. Her enthusiasm and warm, caring nature inspire and uplift all who meet her.

Chanting and Kirtan with Ramdass
Saturday, December 6th; 3pm-4.30pm; $30
If you love kirtan or are curious to explore this form of devotional chanting, this workshop provides a welcoming space. You will have the opportunity to learn traditional Sivananda chants, discover new ones, understand the meanings behind the chants, and, most importantly, sing together while experiencing the uplifting vibrations of shared practice.
Kirtan is a form of chanting rooted in the Bhakti Yoga tradition of India, where sacred mantras are sung in an accessible call-and-response style. By combining music, rhythm, and repetition, kirtan helps quiet the mind, open the heart, and foster a sense of community.
Teacher: Ramdass has been involved with the Sivananda Yoga Centre for a couple of years, teaching yoga and participating in satsang. Ever since he heard kirtan for the first time, he has felt connected to its uplifting vibrations. Chanting kirtan has helped him open his voice, release emotions, and connect with higher energy. Ramdass hopes to share what he has learned and help others experience the benefits of chanting.
