June 7th, Friday and July 12th, Friday 8pm (free and open to all – donations welcome)

PTSD and Yoga Part I (June 7th):
In this lecture , Dr. Thirlwell will discuss the neuroscience underlying PTSD and the importance of taking the brain and body affected with PTSD out of the “Fight and Flight” response of the sympathetic nervous system into the “Relax and Restore” response of the parasympathetic nervous system. Learn the importance of yoga practices in managing PTSD.

PTSD and Yoga Part II (July 12th):
In this  lecture, Dr. Thirlwell will discuss real-world experiences of PTSD and practical lifestyle and yoga techniques to address these. Learn how to use yoga to“rewire” the PTSD brain, relax the body, and come back into a state of physical, mental, and emotional balance. By changing physical neuronal pathways through yoga practice, we can actually stabilize the nervous system and improve PTSD symptoms.

Teacher: Dr. Celeste Thirlwell is a Doctor of Humanitarian Services and Yoga Teacher, as well as a Psychiatrist and Sleep Medicine Specialist, who has lectured internationally on PTSD, chronic pain, and sleep disorders. The study of consciousness has been her lifelong passion, leading her to pursue studies in neuroscience, neurosurgery, and ancient wisdom teachings. She bridges the gap between the scientific world and human experience through Love, Yoga and the Unified Heart Field (UHF) Practices. She has worked for over 3 decades with veterans, first responder responders and refugees with PTSD.

“We do this work to keep Humanity Humane.” -Dra. Celeste
