A playful, energizing, mindful, empowering, inclusive, and interactive workshop using hand and body percussion.
If you have always been curious about the power, joy and many wellness benefits of drumming and music making in community, this workshop is for you!
All levels of experience welcome!
Tanya will facilitate a customized program to renew and uplift your mind, body and spirit through rhythmic reframing.
What to expect:
You will be led through a series of rhythmic games and ensemble pieces that build community spirit and connection while offering the many wellness benefits of playing music in community such as:
*Staying present and engaged in each moment
*Creating a sense of belonging and connectedness
*Strengthening listening, expression, and responsiveness
*Exploring the nature of leadership and support
*Exploring how leaving space for each other strengthens the whole
*Exploring how diversity increases value and power for the whole
*Exploring how to hold calm and grounded energy in the face of intensity and change
*Exploring the nature of positive thinking and its impact
*Enjoying relaxation, vitality, and JOY!
Rhythmic Reframing is a dynamic wellness modality designed by Tanya using hand drums, percussion instruments and/or body percussion in conjunction with mindfulness, vibrational “drum medicine” and affirmation to shift “stuck” energy, awareness and mental patterning into positive, empowered and newly vital states.

Teacher: Tanya Porter is the founder and Living Arts Director of The Inner Space, teaching meditation and classical yoga to both adults and youth for over 20 years. She is the creator of the mindfulness drumming modality Rhythmic Re-framing, bridging her 30 years of drumming experience together with her yoga and meditation practices. Tanya is the author of Drawing Breaths – A 7-Step Daily Self-Care Journal Practice and is a multi-disciplinary artist, performer, and educator specializing in over 25 years of Theatre, Drum, Dance, and creative wellness programming for all ages. (Tanya is a certified yoga instructor from The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, with a designation of CYA-RYT 500.)
