Getting to the Yoga Camp
  1. Taxi / Private transfer (most direct)
    • You can book a private car or airport transfer from YUL straight to the ashram. For example websites list services for “Montreal airport to Val Morin”. suntransfers.com+1
    • Time: About 1 h 10 min (distance ~80-90 km) under good traffic.
    • Cost: Likely CAD 170-230 (or more depending on vehicle/size/time).
    • If you have many bags or arrive late, this is the most comfortable option
  2. Bus / Public transit combination

    • Time: Combined ~ 2 ½ to 3+ hours depending on connections. For example it says Montreal→Val-Morin by bus ~2h38m. Busbud
  3. Bus/Public Transit Option
    • You would take the airport bus (STM 747 Express) from YUL into Montréal, then change to an intercity bus (Autobus Galland) to Val-Morin.
    • According to travel-planner estimates: from YUL to Val Morin via bus is about 3h 50m and costs approx CAD $23-30.
    • For the Montréal → Val-Morin leg: Autobus Galland runs this route about twice daily; tickets around CAD $20-25, duration about 2h 8m.
    • According to one schedule from Galland, there are stops in Val-Morin at e.g., 09:38 and 17:08. galland-bus.com
    • Tip: If your flight arrives late, double-check the last bus from Montréal to Val-Morin — one traveller noted the “last bus with stops in Val Morin is at ~16h15” in older references.
    • Estimated total cost: ~ CAD $30-35 one-way (bus only)
    • Estimated time: ~ 3½-4 hours
  4. Pick up shuttle from Val Morin bus station to the Sivananda Yoga Camp $ 12.00 per run.
Food & Accommodation

The children sleep in cabins divided according to age and gender into small groups of four to five kids with a counsellor.

Prepared with love and care according to yogic dietary principles, three lacto-vegetarian meals are served daily. Very special attention is placed on meeting children’s nutritional needs, as well as providing a diet that is both flavorful and conducive to a calm mind. Each meal is completely balanced, including plenty of protein sources! Whole grains, lentils, beans, legumes, tofu, seeds, nuts and nut butters (except for peanuts) supply most of the protein, with each meal balanced with carbohydrates and fresh produce as well. Meals range from eastern food such as rice, noodles, bread, lentils and curries to western food such as pasta and pizza. Each meal is guaranteed to be balanced, nutritious, and delicious!

The Venue

Located in the beautiful Laurentian mountains, the ashram is located on 350 acres in one of the most spectacular spots in Canada in the small town of Val-Morin. Set amidst the forests and fields of the Sivananda Yoga Camp, the children have supervised use of the ashram swimming pool and the surrounding acres of natural beauty. The nature and space provide the children with a chance to explore the beauty, in a fun and dynamic way.
