Ayurvedic Approach to Yoga Asanas

This course will examine the twelve basic yoga postures through the lens of the Ayurvedic medicine’s healing system. We will learn how to practice yoga asanas taking into account the unique mind-body types of each individual based on Ayurvedic principles. Some topics that will be covered relate to the effects of each asana on the body’s doshas or biological humors and
Teacher: Mayavan is an experienced Yoga teacher who has been practicing Yoga since childhood. He holds Masters in Yoga Therapy from Annamali University, India. He is the director of Yoga Salai, a yoga center in Scarborough. Mayavan has studied Ayurveda with renowned teachers throughout his life and brings a unique perspective to the asana practice.
