Recommended Textbook: Meditation and mantras by Swami Vishnudevananda (available at the boutique).

  • Arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes prior to class.
  • Avoid eating 2 to 3 hours before class.
  • Plan for loose, comfortable clothing for the class.
  • Meditation cushions are provided.

This course provides instruction in the basic techniques and theory for beginning your meditation practice. Learn how to develop concentration and to experience inner peace. Meditation is considered the most important of all the yoga techniques and is an invaluable tool for emotional balance and peace of mind.

Topics covered in the course include:

  • Purpose of meditation
  • Nature of the mind
  • Meditation using a mantra (sound energy, vibration)
  • Obstacles to meditation
  • How to establish a practice

4 sessions of 90 minutes (once a week)

Go deeper into your meditation practice by understanding your mind, the root of your thoughts and emotions. There are no objective tests to measure your progress, however there are universal indicators that all those who meditate regularly will experience sooner or later. Learn how to uplift your thoughts and achieve calmness of the mind.

  • Meditation techniques according to the 4 paths of Yoga
  • Choosing personal mantra for an individualized practice
  • How to continue the practice
